KP Oli elected as new Prime Minister

KATHMANDU, OCT 12 - The Communist Party of Nepal - Unified Marxist Leninist (CPM-UML) Chairman Khadga Prasad (KP) Oli has been elected as the new prime minister of Nepal on Sunday.

In the race of Prime Ministerial post with Congress President Sushil Koirala he was elected with 338 votes out of 597 members in the parliament. He was able to hoard such a majority votes of 338 with the collaboration of UCPM-(Maoist), RPPN and other small fringe parties and has become the 38th Prime Minister of Nepal.

He was born in 1952 as oldest son on the lap of mother Madhu Oli and father Mohan Prasad Oli in eastern district Terathum. He has spent two decades of his life in political. His political life has the experience of Jhapa's movement to democracy protest against the monarchy in 1990 and 2006.

On July 15, 2014 he became the Chairman of CPN-UML defeating the another senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
